Taiki Ozawa – Ritmo De Hydra EP (2016)

  • Techno
  • Breakcore
  • Electro
  • Crossover
  • Alternative dance
  • Industrial techno
  • Hard electro
  • Deep techno

Comment: honestly it is hard to decide what kind of music is predominant on this 5-track issue clocking in at a 33-minute. At times it is about sleek electro, at times about suave deep techno, at times just about fast-paced electro and techno mingled progenies (for instance, at Dos). A characteristic being common to all this bunch is a lurking milieu hovering and flowing atop the rhythms. At times it used to be not lurking anymore, having metamorphosed into clear industrial-tinged noises, echoes and hisses, and crackles. At Tres the artist makes up a sonic mayhem of hard, obsessive electro beats, smashed crackles, lurid noises which used to gravitate towards the black hole eventually. It is followed by a remix of the track by Czech Spigl, which is more relaxed and laid-back though providing similarly the obsessive outlook though doing it in other key. However, as we know the mixed things are at best frequently conveying aspects coming unexpectedly and emphasizing some weaker aspects in compositions. In a word, it is one of the most bewildering rhythmic issues in 2016 being released through Cicuta Records.

Bebhionn – Rotation EP (2016)

  • Deep techno
  • Space techno
  • Psytrance
  • Progressive techno
  • Remixes

Comment: firstly, whereas I was listening to this 9-notch issue I liked to think Bebhionn is a character who is an alien-alike creature who admires music as musch as machines around him/her. With regard to arriving at Earth the sort of spaced-out techno music would be the logical consequence of his/her choice. There are laid out wide open three original compositions (Regular, Singular, Angular) by Bebhionn and two of them (Angular, Regular) are remixed by such artists as The Thinker, Alberto Morales, AbizSonko, Substak, Neglëk, and 6DEL (all of them are being related Cicuta Records either). Aesthetically it is delightful to follow the changing relations between the rhythmic parts and upper profound motive leads. Indeed, it is fairly sublime and funny to see how these compartments interact with one another, how those bounds between many inputs and outputs used to move through curved, elaborated orbits. Stylistically the aforementioned spaced-out and deep techno frequencies are complemented by some sole psytrance and progressive techno rhythmic patterns at moments. In a word, it is a wondrous shift between Earth and major Outer Space, between a minor inner and adjacent outer world all of which is arranged by the omnipotent, wise demon called God. Outer Space is our genuine home and the planet Earth is a cosmic gem where to dwell for a lifetime so let`s listen to music, this issue, for instance.

Darkotic & 6_DEL - Dulce Paranoia EP (2014)

/Deep techno, Tech-house, Electro-house, Club dance, Tekno/

Comment: this 4-track issue by Argentina-residing producers is to encompass techno, tekno, house and electro vibes to interlace them organically with each other. More profoundly, it is at times knee-deep, at times pumped up, at times genuinely catchy full of euphoria drenched propulsions and adrenaline-loaded cadences. In a word, it is a wondrous issue worth to get discovered.

The Thinker - Age Of Machines EP (2013)

9.2

/Industrial techno, Experimental techno, Avant-techno, Alternative dance/

Comment: there are up 6 tracks spreaded out a tiny bit over 30 minutes full of the mazes of glowering techno rhythms. Indeed, it is thoroughly urban music straddling on monotonously droning machines, hinting at powerful acid attacks and dealing with irreversible industrial processes. It sounds like a Kraftwerk-ian dream of gloomy-grade. Good for you in any cases.

Various Artists – Shunt EP (2012)

8.8

/House, Tech-house, Electro-house, Rave, Acid house/

Comment: on this compilation/EP there are represented such artists and projects as Luke Creed, Jose Pouj, Allan Nonamaka, .Moitan, David Reina, and Drugstore. Stylistically it veers away from electro-tinged house and straightforward rave-near and acid house vibes to more elaborated hypnotic techno and tech-house propulsions or on the other side these elements are infiltrated with industrial-backed whiffs. Much fun through dizzy grooves.

Drugstore – Gaia EP (2012)

8.8

/Psytrance, Acid techno, Electronic pop/

Comment: Drugstone`s album is an example of how psytrance-loaded thudding is successfully interlaced with the oscillations of electronic pop and angular techno vibes resembling of the ones having dominated in the beginning of the 90`s. Half of the whole is made up of remixes. In a word, it is interesting and intriguing.
