Sarwari - Transit (2011)

/Alt-folk, Electro pop, Experimental indie, Singer-songwriter, Crossover/

Comment: crunchy electro meets calm folk meets lush, saccharine underground-influenced singer-songwriter-ism a la Lee Hazlewood. Enthralling harmonica solos and half-orchestrated bits are set above a galvanized hotchpot. These 3 tracks used to ooze elegance and have touch with a big initial letter. A truly idiosyncratic one indeed.

Friction! - That Dusty Old Couch (2011)

/Alt-folk, Art pop, Indie pop, Chamber folk, Electronic pop, Folk indie, Experimental indie, Indie folk, Singer-songwriter/

Comment: Seven highly artistical pop songs by Pierre Björklund, a Malmo-based resident, veering from intimate, chamber folk-ish spatial fingerpicking to sublimely droning indie pop appearances, from bouncy electro psychedelia to restraint, introspective singer-songwriter-ism and so-called cowbell indie. At times his aesthetics can be compared to Alan Driscoll`s (The Womb) craftiness. However, it was his first album on (and the starting issue at all for) Bakery Allstars Inc., one of the best indie labels worldwide. Lots of excellent songs are available around there.

Björn Ganzer - Love is the Rebel (2011)

/Art-pop, Experimental indie, Electro-pop, Crossover, Electronic pop, Power pop, Synth pop, Experimental rock, New Wave, Singer-songwriter/

Comment: Obviously one of the most unique issues of 2011 so far. Stylistically, it is neither pure representation of synthetic pop and art-pop nor clear-cut occurrence of psychedelic pop and indie rock, yet on the other side having lots of juncture points regarding the sound of the Doors and early shoegaze-influenced Stereolab and such off-kilter solo musicians as David Sylvian, Scott Walker, and Thomas Dolby. Indeed, he is harnessing the potence of lustrous synthesizers with subtle singer-songwriter-ism, drifting between solemn and worldly, between a kind of glossy insight and abrasive patterns and powerful explorations. Indeed, it is a mesmerizing path to go alongside. Love is the Rebel is released on Bakery Allstars inc, an intriguing Swedish label.

Miriam Kaukosalo - It's The Tooth (2011)

/Electro-rock, Indie pop, Singer-songwriter, Experimental indie, Primitive pop, Lo-fi, DIY/

Comment
: Although having no idea and knowledge about who Miriam Kaukosalo is, her short-running release is a gem for sure. Only the 5-track set within less than 10 minutes, Kaukosalo shows off DIY-based uncrompromising pop power where can be perceived proto electronic indie with heavy reverberation and propulsive rhythms (Culver City) a la The Silver Apples, or catchy harmony-loaded vocals moving on alongside primitivistic paces (Bolla), or an astonishing indie ballad (D.A.M.P) with some really straightforward (even filthy) sentences and intentions. All in all, it is probably Kaukosalo`s vista about punk rock.
